What does the treatment involve?
Once you've decided whitening is for you, we carry out an initial assessment to check your teeth are healthy, then take a scan so your bespoke trays can be made.
When your customised trays are ready, we make sure they feel comfortable and secure, and show you how to use them with the whitening gel.
You wear your trays at home for a short time each day or overnight — whitening at a time that suits your routine.
After a few weeks, we have a follow-up appointment to check everything has gone to plan and that you're happy with your result.
Frequently asked questions
Whitening is long-lasting but not permanent. Results typically hold for one to three years depending on diet and lifestyle. Most patients top up occasionally using their existing trays — we can provide refill gel.
Avoid heavily staining food and drink for the first 48 hours after each session (coffee, red wine, dark berries). Long term, a good oral routine, regular hygiene visits and the occasional top-up keep your shade looking fresh.
Most patients experience no discomfort. Some report short-lived sensitivity to cold during treatment, which usually settles within a day or two. We can recommend a desensitising toothpaste if needed.
Whitening only works on natural enamel, so existing restorations won't change shade. If you have visible crowns or veneers, we'll discuss the best sequencing at your consultation.
